In 2006 I was featured in the NC State Alumni Magazine for its issue celebrating 50 years of integration at NC State. This was indeed an honor as I was the President of the Black Students Board at the time and asked to comment regarding the progress of African American students on campus since its time of integration. Though a very short excerpt in the article, this was very significant as I had been involved in efforts regarding African American graduation and retention rates and was heavily involved (outside of academics) at NC State in the advancement of diversity on campus as well as enhancing the overall experience for minority groups through programming and community service.
